Chileans Combine for Pentathlon Gold

Esteban Bustos recovered from the technical difficulties that stopped him from taking the gold in the individual event, combining with Javiera Rosas for the win in the mixed event.

After leading all the way through the modern pentathlon, technical difficulties with his gun saw the young Chilean fall from the top of the standings to third place. Alongside silver medalist Rosas, Chile fielded a formidable team.

The pentathlon gold was Chile’s first for day three and the ninth of the South American Games.
