0All Chilean Doubles Final in Santiago Challenger
While Hans Podlipnik has impressed by reaching his first Challenger semi-final, he will also appear in the doubles final with Jorge Aguilar.
While Australian James Duckworth has already taken care of Chile’s Gonzalo Lama and Paul Capdeville, Hans Podlipnik will hope to capitalise on his status as the new number one player in Chile. He will team up with Jorge Aguilar against young hopes Christian Garín and Nicolás Jarry.
While his singles performances have seen Aguilar’s ranking drop from within the top 200 in 2013 down to 462, the 29-year-old maintains a doubles ranking of 241. Aguilar combined with Guillermo Nuñez for victory in Chile’s F1 tournament, while he teamed up with Podlipnik to win the F2.
Jarry and Garín were both stars of the ITF junior circuit and will be hoping to upstage their more experienced counterparts. The youngsters beat Eduardo Schwank (Argentina) and José Hernández (Dominican Republic) 2-6 6-3 10-7 to reach the final, while Podlipnik and Aguilar beat Renzo Olivo (Argentina) and Hugo Dellien (Bolivia) in an extended third set, which finished 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
