Some Success for Chilean Tennis in Germany

After a number of Chilean tennis stars fell early in the week’s action, participants at the F6 in Germany have begun to make amends.

Cristobál Saavedra and Ricardo Urzúa had an easy pass to the final of the German tournament, with their local rivals Kevin Kaczynski and Jannis Kahlke withdrawing from their semi-final clash.

Saavedra, as well as Nicolás Jarry are through to the quarter finals in the singles at the tournament. Urzúa was unable to defeat Mats Moraing. Despite a significant advantage in the rankings, it was the German who was victorious in straight sets.

Jarry has a huge ranking advantage over his German opponent Marvin Netuschil (1,147). On the back of strong performances week after week, the tall Chilean teenager is now ranked 388.

Guillermo Rivera and Juan Carlos Sáez have put Chile into the finals in the F4 tournament in Bulgaria, looking to follow up their win in the Serbian F3 tournament.

Jorge Montero, ranked 856, remains alive in the F19 tournament in the USA, reaching the quarter finals, where he will face the unranked Hunter Harrington.
