The prestigious youth event brings teams from around the world and is shown on the BBC in Northern Ireland. The form of Ángelo Henríquez during last year’s event for Chile’s under 20 team saw Sir Alex Ferguson on the phone to Universidad de Chile to activate the pre-arranged deal between “La U” and Manchester United.
The recently retired manager is credited with saving the Milk Cup in the early stages, his endorsement of Manchester United teams travelling to the competition was important for other teams to join in the tournament.
The classes, organised as part of the prize package by Fundación Ganamos Todos and the Colina municipality, are taught by Australian Daniel Boyle and aim to develop fundamental skills within the team, including asking for directions, buying food as well as on field activities. Aside from these essential needs, the values of respect, fair play and good behaviour will also be promoted during the classes.
The classes will run until late July, when the team travels to Northern Ireland for the Milk Cup.
