The Futsal tournament opened with the clash between Chile and Argentina, with the visitors taking first blood. Brazil beat Paraguay in the following game, while Paraguay and Colombia shared the spoils. The Futbol Sala tournament began in the Chimkowe sports centre, with Chile hosting Argentina in a fierce first game. The visitors from the Andes proved too strong, finishing 2-1 victors.
