Henríquez receives late call-up for la Roja

Former Universidad de Chile striker Ángelo Henríquez has replaced current la U forward Gustavo Canales in the Chile squad for the friendlies against Peru and Bolivia.
Canales was selected by Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli, but a shoulder injury sustained against San Marcos de Arica yesterday has caused his exit.
His misfortune is Henríquez´s good fortune. The Manchester United striker, who has netted twice for his country, is currently on loan at Dinamo Zagreb and is beginning to show the sort of form that marked him out as one to watch.
The 20-year-old’s weekend hat-trick in the 3-0 victory against Lokomotiva in the Croatian league proved perfect timing.
With Canales pulling out, there are six domestic-based players in Chile´s squad for the matches against Peru and Bolivia on October 10 and 14 respectively.
Johnny Herrera, José Rojas and Sebastián Martínez are the three U de Chile players in the squad, while there are two from Colo Colo – Jean Beasejour and Juan Delgado.
The biggest surprise was the call-up for Unión Española keeper Diego Sánchez. His chance comes due to injury to regular third-choice Cristopher Toselli, of Universidad Católica, and the fact that Colo Colo´s Paulo Garcés is having to play second fiddle to Justo Villar at the Monumental.
