Boca swoop for Fuenzalida hits Colo Colo

Chilean champions Colo Colo are set to suffer a major blow with the loss of midfielder José Pedro Fuenzalida to Argentinian giants Boca Juniors.
The deal is expected to be wrapped up imminently and would leave the albos with a major hole to fill in their squad. The Chilean international has been one of their most consistent performers in recent times and has built a highly fruitful partnership with Gonzalo Fierro on Colo Colo´s right-hand side.
Boca are set to pay the US $400,000 exit clause for the former Universidad Católica player, which makes him a snip in today´s market.
Fuenzalida´s team-mates are already resigned to his exit.
Midfielder Emiliano Vecchio said: “It´s a big loss for the group because of all that signifies ´el Chapa´, but at the same time we´re happy because we know how important this step is for him.”
It will be the first time Fuenzalida has played for a club outside Chile and he´s at his peak at the age of 29.
The Chilean international was in Jorge Sampaoli´s 23-man World Cup squad in Brazil, but failed to figure.
It gives Colo Colo boss Héctor Tapia a major headache as he wants a high-class replacement for one of his key men. The name of Celta Vigo´s Fabián Orellana has been floated again, but it´s thought his sky-high wage demands make a deal highly unlikely.
Universidad Católica´s out-of-favour Fernando Meneses had also been mentioned, but he has been ruled out by the albos.
