Basay parts company with Wanderers

Ivo Basay has become the fifth managerial casualty of the Clausura after leaving his post at Santiago Wanderers.

Valparaíso – Sunday´s 2-1 defeat in the ´clássico porteño´ against Everton seems to have been the final straw for the directors, though the club´s official announcement said the the decision had been made by mutual agreement.

Although Wanderers lie mid-table, there has been increasing pressure on Basay in recent weeks and the fans were getting on the 47-year-old´s case.

In the end, the departure of the ex-O’Higgins and Colo Colo boss came as no great surprise. Basay´s backroom staff have also left the club.

It follows the exit of Marco Antonio Figueroa (Universidad de Chile), Omar Labruna (Everton), Jorge García (Cobreloa) and Gustavo Huerta (Antofagasta).

Wanderers take on Ñublense tomorrow (6.15pm) in the Clausura at the Bicentenario Elías Figueroa and they´ve chosen to put Héctor Robles in charge.

Robles has been working with the club´s youth sides and is a former Santiago Wanderers player.
