World Marks International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

April 6 has been marked on the calendar as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Organisations around the world are marking the day in their own ways.

Among those marking the day are sporting federations, including FIFA, the IOC and various Olympic committees, the Homeless World Cup, as well as organisations such as Laureus.

Sport has played a huge role in many changes in the landscape and offers opportunities to those who are less fortunate, but there is still a huge amount of work to do in order to create a completely peaceful world.

The image at the top of this post shows world champion Honza Weber presenting footbag to children on the Sport/Life European Footbag Tour, which is currently in Prague. The tour will continue throughout Europe for the rest of the month.
