0Football hits the road this weekend
With the South American Games taking priority in Santiago this weekend, the football programme for the tenth round of the Clausura gets underway early.
Today’s matches see fourth-placed Palestino host relegation-threatened Huachipato at La Cisterna, Santiago Wanderers entertain Ñublense at the Bicentenario Elías Figueroa and Unión Española take on Audax Italiano at Santa Laura.
Héctor Robles takes charge of Wanderers after the departure of Ivo Basay and will hope to pick up three points at home.
There is no football action tomorrow, but there are three matches apiece on Saturday and Sunday – and a couple of unusual venues.
The pick of Satuday´s game is champions O´Higgins, who lie third, against sixth-placed Universidad de Chile (6.30pm).
O´Higgins have been playing their home games at Colo Colo´s Monumental, but this time they will do so at the Bicentenario Nelson Oyarzún in Chillan to avoid a clash with the South American Games.
The other Saturday matches are Universidad de Concepción v Antofagasta (4pm) and Iquique v Cobreloa (10pm).
The remaining three matches have been pencilled in for Sunday. Again, there’s an unusual location as league leaders Colo Colo make the trip to Coquimbo’s Bicentenario Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso for their away match against Unión La Calera (4pm).
Cobresal host improving Everton (4pm) and second-placed Universidad Católica seek all three points at relegation-haunted Rangers (6.30pm).
