Important Doubles Victory for Seguel in Morocco

Chile’s leading tennis player Daniela Seguel teamed up with Argentina’s Tatiana Bua to win on debut in the Marrakech WTA tournament.

After bowing out in the final round of qualifying, Seguel looked to continue her campaign in the $250,000 tournament alongside Bua. The first match was a success, taking down Nicole Clerico (Italy) and Nikola Frankova (Czech Republic) in straight sets. While the first set went to a tiebreak, the South American pairing cruised to victory in the second set, winning 7-6, 6-3.

The competition doesn’t get any easier for the Latinas, facing off against top seeds Darija Jurak (Croatia) and Megan Moulton-Levy (USA).

After passing through her first two qualifying matches, La Pantera came up against Maryna Zanevsk (133). Ranked over 100 places higher on the WTA charts, Zanevsk had an easy victory against the Chilean, winning 6-1, 6-4.

The clay court tournament is the only African stop on the WTA tour.
