0Crovetto has to settle for seventh
Francisca Crovetto suffered a frustrating seventh place finish at the skeet shooting World Cup in the United States.
Tucson, Arizona – The top six qualified for the final stages of the competition and Crovetto, who won silver at the South American Games last month, couldn´t have come much closer.
The 23-year-old finished tied for sixth with China´s Meng Wei after both scored 71 hits in three rounds. However, Wei came out on top in a play-off to bag the last spot at Crovetto´s expense.
The Chilean could have been forgiven for thinking what might have been after Wei went on to earn the silver medal, but looked on the positive side.
She said: “I´m very happy with the result. I was very close to reaching the final and unfortunately I just missed out.
“I want to dedicate this seventh place to the people of Valparaíso.”
Slovakia´s Danka Bartekova took the gold by beating Wei in the gold medal match, while the USA´s Kimberly Rhode claimed the bronze medal.
