Capital Eyes – Vlog 25 – Road to Melbourne

This will not be the only vlog from a recent trip down to Melbourne, but this covers the drive down with a few stops in between.

Early in the season I had decided that I was going to be in attendance at the last round match between Melbourne Storm and the Raiders. It ended up being the last game of the season, with the finals chances already over before we arrived.

We stayed at the Melbourne Central YHA and had a great room up on the rooftop. This is not about our time in Melbourne though, it’s about the way down.

We left in the afternoon with the plan of making it to Holbrook after a dinner stop in Gundagai. That’s exactly what we did. We got into the motel fairly late, so it was pretty much just off to bed and then back into action the next morning.

Having knocked off a few hours the night before we had time to stop at plenty of places. It was Nico’s first trip down to Melbourne, so it was worth making a couple of detours in order to see a couple of extra things. Since we were in Holbrook to start our day, we couldn’t miss the giant submarine, which is a long way from the sea.

We had quite a long stop in Beechworth, including lunch at the bakery. We visited the Burke Museum there as well as the Ned Kelly Vault, which is part of the same ticket. I’m not sure too much has changed since I visited in Primary School, though the town, like many of those old gold towns, tries to keep things more or less the same as many years before.

Before getting into the city we stopped by Seymour, which has a new skatepark. I had a lot of fun there, and Nico enjoyed the park next door. It was also great to catch up with many friends in Melbourne over the following days, which will be for a future vlog.
