Big challenge for Chile´s tennis aces

The most important tennis tournament of the year in Santiago begins tomorrow – and hopes are high for Chilean success.

Las Condes – The qualifying competition of the ATP Challenger Cachantún Cup begins tomorrow at 10am, while the main draw begins on Monday.

The final of the US $40,000, clay court tournament takes place on Sunday, April 20, at Club Palestino.

With Chile´s 5-0 Davis Cup win against Paraguay fresh in the mind, there is optimism that some of the Chileans will have a good run.

There are eight Chileans already booked into the main draw. Paul Capdeville (241), Hans Podlipnik (251), Gonzalo Lama (301) y Christian Garín (400) had direct entry, while Nicolás Jarry (614), Bastian Malla (680), Guillermo Núñez (695) and Matías Sborowitz (954°) received wild cards.

Among the foreign players to look out for will be Australia´s James Duckworth, the USA´s Denis Kudla and Wayne Odesnik, and France´s Lucas Pouille.

Tickets will cost $7.000 from Monday to Thursday, while the price rises to $8.000 from Friday to Sunday.
