Tennis aces take a tumble

Chile´s tennis players have been in good form lately, but this week looks like being one to forget.

Chilean men´s number one Gonzalo Lama (204) crashed out of the Manta Challenger in Ecuador in straight sets. The 21-year-old went down 6-3, 6-1 to home player Giovanni Lapentti (449).
Compatriot Matias Sborowitz was unable to build on his title success in Mexico last week. The 20-year-old also lost in the first round in Ecuador.

Argentina´s Guido Andreozzi (167), the sixth seed, proved too strong, winning 6-1, 7-5 in the US $40,000 tournament.
Meanwhile, Chilean number two Hans Podlipnik (211) made a swift exit in the Todi Challenger in Italy. He lost 7-6 (2), 6-3 against France´s Lucas Pouille (188).

The experienced Jorge Aguilar lost in the first round of the Futures Holland 4 in Middelburg. The 29-year-old went down 7-5, 6-4 against the fifth seed, Tak Khunn Wang (293), of France.

In the Futures Germany 6, Benjamín Ugarte (797) fell against home player Kevin Kaczynski (772) 6-4, 6-4.

On the women´s front, Chilean number one Daniela Seguel (265) lost in the first round of the ITF Versmold in Germany. The home country´s Anna-Lena Friedsam (110), the third seed, eased to a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
