1Six of the best for champion Podlipnik
Chilean number two Hans Podlipnik clinched his sixth Futures title this year by beating Argentinian Nicolas Kicker in the final in Coquimbo.
Competing in the Chile Futures 5, top seed Podlipnik looked on course for an easy victory when he won the first set 6-1.
However, second seed Kicker (349) was determined to make a match of it and claimed the second set 6-3 to force a decider.
Podlipnik, world ranked 220, stepped up a gear in the final set to take it 6-1 and continue his impressive form on the Futures circuit in 2014.
The 26-year-old has won two titles on home soil, two in Egypt and one apiece in Spain and Germany.
In terms of titles, it´s his best year – back in 2012 Podlipnik won five Futures tournaments.
The victory in Coquimbo meant another home win. Podlipnik´s compatriot Jorge Aguilar won the Chile Futures 4 in Santiago last week.
