0Podlipnik ends Aguilar´s winning streak
Chilean number two Hans Podlipnik brought Jorge Aguilar´s winning run to an end in Coquimbo.
Aguilar (394) won the Chile Futures 4 at Club Palestino last week and the 29-year-old fifth seed was hoping to claim another crown in the fourth region.
However, it was top seed Podlipnik who ran out a comfortable winner in their Chile Futures 5 quarter-final showdown. The 26-year-old triumphed 6-3, 6-2 to set up a last four clash against Brazil’s Jose Pereira (358), beaten by Aguilar in last week’s final.
It means Podlipnik, ranked 220, has already gone one better than last week when he was on the end of a shock defeat against compatriot Guillermo Rivera in the last eight of the Futures 4.
In the other semi, Argentinian second seed Nicolas Kicker (349) will meet Brazil’s Wilson Leite (368), seeded four.
Leite beat Chile’s Jorge Montero (894) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.
The clay court tournament has a prize fund of US $10,000.
