Lama leads Chilean charge in Europe

Chile´s tennis players have been busy notching up victories in different parts of Europe.
Chilean number two Gonzalo Lama earned an excellent win in the first round of the Caltanissetta Challenger in Italy.
Lama (266) came through a gruelling match against the host country´s Thomas Fabbiano, who is ranked 100 places above the Chilean. He triumphed 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 in more than two hours of play.
The 21-year-old will now meet Spain´s Pere Riba (87), the third seed, in the last 16 tomorrow.
Jorge Aguilar (526) eased through to the second round of the Holland Futures 1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against home country wild card Max de Vroome (1,601). The eighth seed will now meet Great Britain´s Tom Farquharson (522) tomorrow.
In Poland, there were four Chilean victories in the Futures 2.
Third seed Christian Garín, fresh from his title success in Spain, beat Russia´s Nikita Lis 6-3, 6-3.
Cristóbal Saavedra beat Poland´s Rafa Teurer 6-4, 6-1, Bastián Malla saw off France´s Jerome Inzerillo 6-3, 6-0 and Ricardo Urzua defeated Germany´s Marco Mokrzycki 6-3, 6-2.
