0Garín on the march in Spain
Christian Garín eased into the quarter-finals of the Spain Futures 12 with a comfortable second round win.
The 18-year-old ran out a convincing 6-3, 6-1 winner against the host country´s Miguel Semmler (1,036).
In fact, Garín (393) had a much tougher test in the first round when he was forced to work hard to overcome another Spaniard, Sergio Martos (1,282), 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
In the quarter-finals, the fourth seed will meet Alexis Musialek (465). The Frenchman is the eighth seed in the Madrid clay-court event, which has a prize fund of US $10,000.
Meanwhile, Nicolás Jarry will bid to join Garín in the last eight tomorrow when he takes on Spain´s Ivan Arenas-Gualda (371). The 18-year-old, ranked 513, will seek to spring a surprise against the third seed.
