0Early exits for Chilean duo in Germany
Chile´s Hans Podlipnik and Christian Garín suffered disappointing first round defeats in the Marburg Challenger in Germany.
While the bulk of the tennis world fixes its attention on Wimbledon, there are plenty of other tournaments taking place around the world with vital ranking points.
However, Chile number two Podlipnik (211), recently deposed by Gonzalo Lama at the Chilean summit, lost to Switzerland´s Henri Laaksonen (260) 6-4, 6-4.
Garín (366) came through qualifying to reach the first round, but was unable to make further progress. The 18-year-old was dumped out 7-5, 6-1 by Spain´s Roberto Carballes Baena (190) in the clay court tournament, which has a prize fund of 35,000 euros.
Meanwhile, tomorrow is going to be one of the biggest days in the career of Chilean women´s number one Daniela Seguel.
The 21-year-old makes her Grand Slam debut in the women´s doubles at Wimbledon alongside Serbia´s Vesna Dolonc.
They are first up on Court 10 at 6.30am Chilean time against the German tenth seeds Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld.
