A Josh Kennedy header has booked Australia’s place at the 2014 World Cup, joining Japan, South Korea and Iran as the direct Asian qualifiers.

Josh Kennedy, a late substitute for Tim Cahill, did not waste time in putting his Jesus-style look to bring the miracle for Australia.

With direct flights from Sydney to Santiago introduced in 2012 by Qantas, Chile will be likely to see plenty of supporters on their way to the tournament, as an excellent launching pad for any journey through South America.

2014 will mark 40 years since Australia first qualified for the World Cup, with Chile sharing the group in 1974.
